Understanding Contributor Tiers

To better understand how our “tier” system works, read this article here.

Wages & Exchange Rates

Compensation at MMM is denominated in USD and rewarded via the GTC token.

MMM uses the minimum in USD terms of GTC spot price at the time of transaction.

In other words, you will be paid an equivalent of USD in the GTC token. The amount of GTC will be calculated based on the GTC token price at the time of transaction.

For example:

To avoid the possibility of a declining token price at the time of transaction, we will do our best to notify all contributors in advance when they can expect to receive payment.

Regular Contributor Compensation

Important: These rates do not apply to writers. Please see the Writer Compensation section below for writer compensation schemes.

There are four different “levels” of compensation that are based on a series of proxy measurements.

A contributor's Level is based on a determination of the value the contributor is expected to deliver over the next compensation cycle (1 month).

In general, high performing contributors are likely to “level up” as they gain context & experience, deepen trust, and demonstrate their skills in the Workstream.

Measuring expected value is challenging and subjective. High value can come from many sources, including experience with Gitcoin/MMM, domain-specific knowledge, or skill-specific talent.

Here are some examples of the kinds of proxy measurements that you can use to estimate your and others' Level(s). Please note that these are not requirements. In other words, it is possible to be new to crypto and be a level 4 if you are highly talented in your craft (ex: project management).

The Workstream Leads will review (and potentially adjust) your Level prior to the start of the compensation cycle.
