Citizens Innovate Overview
Citizens Innovate encourages community participation and innovation towards achieving the DAO's objectives. This initiative allows Gitcoin community members to propose actionable steps and ideas (GCPs) that align with Gitcoin's key goals, such as network effects, community engagement, and financial sustainability. The program utilizes direct grant funding to foster ecosystem growth through proactive contributions from its community.
Proposals undergo a structured evaluation process, including community feedback and assessment by the Grants Council, based on their alignment with Gitcoin's Essential Intents, impact, feasibility, and sustainability.

We are implementing structured monthly funding cycles to streamline the process of reviewing, commenting on, and funding GCPs. These cycles will occur every month except December. Proposals can be submitted at any point within a month. On the first day of each month, GCPs that satisfy the criteria below will be chosen for evaluation (see section GCP Template and Submission Guidelines for details):
- [ ] The GCP must be posted on the Governance Forum with all mandatory sections duly completed.
- [ ] There must be a minimum of 5 business days allowed for community input.
- [ ] The final version of the GCP must be submitted as a project to the Citizens Innovate Round on Grants Stack by 23:59 pm on the last calendar day of the month.
If your proposal misses the deadline, it will be evaluated in the following month's cycle.
Proposal Submission
- Grantees start by reviewing the guidelines for submitting a GCP.
- Grantee submits their GCP on the Governance Forum, allowing for visibility and community feedback.
Commenting, Feedback, and Adjustments Period
- After submission, the community is required to review and provide input on the GCP for a minimum of 5 business days.
- The grantee is responsible for updating their proposal as needed, considering the community's feedback to ensure the proposal's alignment with at least one Essential Intent.
Submission on Grants Stack and Evaluation
- The grantee must submit the final version of their GCP on Grants Stack before 23:59 pm on the last calendar day of the month.
- All applications on Grants Stack are consolidated for review by Grant Council.
- The Grant Council finalizes the funding decisions within the first ten working days every month.
Post-Cycle Implementation
- Once approved, the grantee creates a project with a roadmap on the Grantee Accountability Protocol.
- The project's outcomes are periodically reviewed as per the established roadmap.
- Payments are authorized based on the project's schedule and progress.
- The final submission is made once all the objectives are met. The GCP is officially closed upon completion and satisfactory review of all
