Citizens Forward Overview (RFPs)

The Citizens Forward program is part of Gitcoin's Citizen Grants initiative, aimed at fostering DAO-led innovations and community participation. It seeks to involve the community in pre-defined projects through Request for Proposals (RFPs) supported by budgets from business units, such as Grants Lab and Passport, and the Ecosystem Collective.

Citizens Forward operates alongside Citizens Retro and Citizens Innovate, with the latter focusing on community proposals and the former on retroactive funding. Citizens Forward, however, focuses on DAO-led initiatives that invite citizen contributions to achieve DAO-wide goals.

RFP Development & Validation

The RFP Owner formulates the RFP with comprehensive details including project scope, timeline, budget, and selection criteria. The Program Manager conducts a assessment of the RFP to ensure all information is complete and coherent.

RFP Announcement & Selection

The Program Manager publishes the RFP on the governance forum, signaling the start of the application period. The RFP is made available as a Direct Grant Round on Grants Stack. Potential grantees review the guidelines, prepare proposals, and submit applications. After the submission deadline, the Program Manager consolidates all responses, and the selection process is carried out to identify the suitable grantee(s).

Project Execution & Closure

The selected grantee outlines the project with a clear roadmap using the Grantee Accountability Protocol. Progress is monitored, milestones are updated, and payments are released according to the project's adherence to the set schedule and milestones. The Program Manager closes the RFP upon the project’s completion and the grantee's final submission.
