The Token Engineering Commons (TEC) uses what we call ā€œTunable Quadratic Fundingā€ (TQF) to allocate matching funds in our Gitcoin rounds. This approach enables us to incorporate token engineering expertise into the Quadratic Funding allocation process.

How does TQF work? We look for token-based signals of token engineering expertise in the wallets of those donating to projects in our Token Engineering Grants Round. We then apply a ā€˜boostā€™ to those donations that have those signals. At this point, we incorporate two signals:

As a grantee, you donā€™t need to do anything special to account for TQF in your application. The TEC runs the TQF allocation process after the Gitcoin round is completed as part of calculating final payout amounts for each grantee.

For donors, all you need to do is make sure that you donate from the same wallet where you hold $TEC or the Token Engineering Academy NFT certificates.

Tapping the expertise of the token engineering community is important to making capital allocation decisions that lead to high-impact, token-engineered, public goods. The TEC uses TQF as a powerful way to draw on the democratizing effects of Quadratic Funding while simultaneously incorporating Subject Matter Expertise into funding allocation decisions.
