Gitcoin Objective

Gitcoin is virtually synonymous with running Quadratic Funding (QF) grants rounds. A core goal behind building Allo + Grants Stack was in democratizing QF rounds and enabling more communities to run these programs themselves. The goal of this outcome to create a simple, easy-to-use flow for operating QF rounds on Grants Stack.

Why is this important

QF is the first mechanism we’ve built on Allo Protocol, and there is pent-up demand for non-technical teams to run these types of rounds with Gitcoin tooling. Enabling the self-serve management of these rounds pays off a major value prop of the protocol effort, eases the burden on our Grant Program’s team, and unlocks the ability for self-serve rounds to run on the protocol.

High-level user problems

• As a program manager, I want to easily set up and manage Quadratic Funding grants rounds.
  • I want to easily configure and manage the appropriate settings for my round
    • I want to see all of my QF customization in one UI, so that I can easily manage these
  • I want a reasonably effective “default” QF configuration that doesn’t require me to deeply understand the mechanism or Sybil defense
  • I want the flexibility to undertake more sophisticated Sybil analysis and defense with my round if I desire
  • I want to enable my community members to easily find and donate to projects they care about
  • I want to be able to easily communicate QF to my grantees and donors, so that they understand the mechanism and buy into the process
    • i.e.: have the round operators be the source of evangelizing, not Gitcoin
  • I want to be able to point my community to auditable data pipeline, so that I can enable them to reproduce and audit my results.

Success Hypothesis

If this is successful, we will provide a good-enough self-serve QF base that communities will be able to begin running their own rounds, while also providing a strong platform for our Gitcoin Grants program to continue expanding and iterating on their model.
