The Token Engineering Grants Program is a initiative by the Token Engineering Commons to empower projects in the token engineering space to use the power of Quadratic Funding (QF) to fund their needs.

Since our inception, we’ve given more than $400k in grants for projects that help build better token systems for a better future. Now, with a proper grants program set up, we hope to ramp up donations and continue building the field of token engineering.

About the round 🔔

Grants admitted into August round will be eligible to participate in a TEC retroactive funding round later this year, with awards based on progress against 2 milestones.

Grantees must commit to participating in the two milestones outlined below (exact dates will be communicated after your admission to the round):

• September: Milestone 1 requires completion of a grant profile in Grantee Accountability Protocol (GAP). The profile outlines the specific outcomes to be achieved by Milestone 2.
• October: Milestone 2 requires a progress report on the grantee's progress towards achieving the outcomes agreed to in Milestone 1.

• Dates are:
  • Applications open July 24th - August 12th
  • Application review August 5th - August 12th
  • Open for donations August 7th - August 21st
• This round will run on Optimism 🔴.

Who is eligible for the round?

All grants must adhere to the following requirements:

1. Advance Token Engineering: Projects must advance token engineering within one of the following categories: tooling, research, education, social infrastructure, consulting.
2. Contribute to the Superchain: Projects must contribute to the growth and development of Optimism or the broader Superchain ecosystem. Applications must include the following elements:
   • Description of the long-term vision for impact
   • Specification of short-term goals and milestones within the scope of the grant
   • Agreement to participate in TEC's impact evaluation process leading to the Retroactive funding round in November (detailed below in “Impact Assessment Plan”)
3. Project Credibility:
   • Summary of project’s existing work with relevant links
   • Verified Github and/or Twitter account
   • Brief bios of the project’s team members
4. Returning Grantees:
   • Updates on the work accomplished since their last grant
   • Self-assessment of the effectiveness of their use of that funding
